After years of experience as a commercial photographer, Hartmut Ahlers has now returned to the original terms of photography. Again his inspiration and focus is guided by spontaneity and capturing the spirit of the moment.
pictures, landscapes/stills and more Based upon photographs taken in many countries, Hartmut Ahlers creates individual artworks which are of worldwide interest, some of them having gained international awards in photographic contests.
hierro This work is done in his studio workshop in Mallorca. Steel and iron is treated with saltwater to corrode and rust in the sun, and then used as components for image postproduction.
The pictures are a result of mixed media techniques on canvases stretched on traditional frames: photo transfer, rust, patina, acrylic, treebark, wire, limestone shell as well as digital processing lead to unique images. Hartmut Ahlers does this final work both in his studio workshop in Mallorca and in Ammerland, Northern Germany.
