When anxiety overtakes your love for photography
You are someone, who loves the idea of having that one signature portrait of you and yet cringes at the thought of walking into a studio?
I make a distinct effort to understand and connect with you in a getting-to-know conversation, which will help me as a visual storyteller to highlight your distinct character alongside your passions and interests.
I guarantee you a rewarding portrait session so that you could walk away with beautiful images, forever changed to be the true lover of photography you deserve to be, also in deed.
I use time-tested, earth-friendly 100% cotton-based and hand-made fine-art paper along with complimentary inks.
If you ever decide to invest in your own works of photography, or alternatively want to reward your sense of philanthropy by empowering a kindred local artist, I could help you with both.
Testimonial
"I went there to get nice prints of my favourite photographs. I left with amazing prints of beautiful images, and a full-on look behind the curtains, and numerous pieces of hands-on advice for improving my photography. With-Light offers more than just taking beautiful pictures of you."
The next several years, I polished my craft as a photojournalist, invested in the business skills that I lacked, creating a body of work I could stand up for with a few commercial engagements to encourage my zest.
My wife and I, first time parents with an infant, were tweaking away the concept for our gallery studio, leaning on our little savings and felt that we were ready by November, 2013.
The first studio in the Girardethaus, Essen was a two year learning lab, sweat, break-even margins and glorious moments of epiphany. These two years had to be.
My studios were lean, agile and all things experimental that enabled me stay course and create. They become spaces that allowed me to do good photography, spurn fine print artefacts and engage with people that humbled and inspired me.
The second studio-gallery opened its doors in March 2016 in downtown Rüttenscheid, Essen that hosted all things photography to fine-art exhibitions.
Values
Simplicity, authenticity and elegance; these three core values have become the credo that shapes my work as the founder and principle photographer of with-light photography; they ground me to leave behind thoughtful lens-work and yet leave room for serendipity to happen.
